Gladiator, the Oscar winning movie (Best Picture, Best Actor - Russell Crowe) is the inspiration for the following stories. The writers have tried to remain true to the original spirit of the movie about a general turned gladiator in ancient Rome, and especially to the character of General Maximus as portrayed by Russell Crowe.
